"Muy mala organización y gestión.
Este centro educativo vende unos valores que no imparte, existe mucha diferencia de trato entre unas personas y otras, además de evitar ver la realidad del alumnado en el entorno educativo. Vende una galería que no lleva a cabo."
"This is an English language review that I'm posting mostly for families from abroad who are considering moving to Pontedeume.
The school building is modern and well-designed and in a great location by the waterfront in the town centre. It has good school bus routes covering the villages in the local area.
There is the usual state system lottery of what teacher your child gets (teachers get to pick their classes with the longest-serving going first, which can result in situations like a child getting the same teacher for five years in a row and parents having no ability to influence that). Generally, though, I've been really impressed by the positive, helpful, forward-thinking attitude of the school. You really feel all the staff share a commitment to helping and adapting to each child as an individual. Also of note is the tolerant, respectful, supportive culture that is fostered among the students. Coming from the UK, which tends to have a real undercurrent of aggression and singling out, this is something I'm so happy to have my children grow up with.
A difficulty anyone from outside Galicia might have is that the school communicates almost exclusively in Gallego. I'm not giving an opinion on this, simply stating it's a barrier for anyone who speaks only Castellano. And of course (because it's Spain), anything in any other language is non-existent (although the school's English teachers are very good and French is offered as an optional subject from age 6). The website is a lurid mix of every font imaginable with a poor structure that's very hard to find information on (so, again, completely normal for Spain!), but in person or by phone the school is always very attentive and helpful.
If you're considering Galicia for a change of life then Pontedeume is a great mix of small-town benefits and historic centre for a wide area that therefore has all services, and in a beautiful setting. Couceiro Freijomil school does the town credit, and I doubt you'll find much better anywhere else in Galicia."
